Brief Answer:
You should be investigated.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Bright red coloured stool is due to lower Gastro intestinal tract lesions like Polyp, Haemorrhoids, Fissure in ano etc. These lesions will be diagnosed with Colonoscopy. In fissure, there will pain during defecation and bleeding sometimes.
Dark red coloured stool can be due to lesion in upper gut like Stomach or duodenal Ulcer, gastritis, Cancer etc . Upper GI Endoscopy will confirm the diagnosis.
Alternative constipation and diarrhoea can be due to Irritable bowel syndrome. I prescribe Pre and Probiotic capsule to my patients with similar complaints.
Please take high fiber diet, drink plenty of liquids, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Your stool should be soft.
Please consult your doctor and get investigated. Please get Upper GI ENDOSCOPY and Colonoscopy.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards

OK so when I was 15 weeks pregnant they told me I had gallstones. I'm no longer pregnant and my baby boy will soon be 4 months now. Could that have anything to do with it?
Also where could I go get an Upper GI ENDOSCOPY and Colonoscopy since I don't have a regular doctor that I go to?

Brief Answer:
Asymptomatic gall stones are not of much concern.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain due to gallstones will be on right side beneath the ribs. If there is no pain, nothing has to be done.
You should consult a Gastroenterologist for Endoscopy and Colonoscopy. You can consult him if he is in your town or nearby .
Till then, please follow the dietary measures.
Wish you good health.
