They said there is some blood around the egg she is 5 weeks pregnant they said the cervix is closed she has had a miscarriage and an abortion before. How serious is this. And should she be put on bed rest or what should she do. They told her she can't do anything physical and she's made an appointment with an OB GYN. But while she's there she will be under a lot of stress during her training without physical activity. Coming home and postponing training is an option. But she wants to wait to hear what the doctor says. Can you please guve me some insite as what is the best thing to do.

Brief Answer:
Take leave For 10 days and relax at home in XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns.

About half of women with threatened miscarriage continue their pregnancy and deliver baby. Since her bleeding is mild let us hope for the best.

There is no clear evidence that bed rest helps women with threatened miscarriage.
As told by her doctor she should not exert herself. Coming home and postponing training is a good option as this helps you to support her better and share her worries/ stress regarding pregnancy. She can stay stress free.

Along with folic acid that she might be taking I would advise her to take vaginal progesterone to support pregnancy

I suggest that she take leave from her training and stay there for 10 days. You can join her to support her. This avoids the stress of traveling for her. She can get another ultrasound done after 10 days. What is important is that she should not suffer any sort of stress ( physical or mental) Ask her to remain positive.

I hope this helps.
If you have further queries, I will be happy to answer.
With best wishes,
Dr Rama

She either has to stay for the next six months or come back to michigan. So taking a ten day leave would not work. Ahe will be getting up around 5 am and does not get done until 5 pm so she will have twelve hour days as well as she has to studdy 3 hrs a night. So she will be under a lot of strees and be able to get a lot of sleep. And it is really hot down there and she will be in Materi fatigues the whole time. And has to walk every where and some times its it can be far. So i worry with her being in the heat and with all the stress from training it will be bad for her.

Brief Answer:
I suggest it is better to postpone training.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Noted the contents. This is a lot of exertion for her. I suggest it is better to postpone training.

If she is unwilling to postpone her training do her Quantitative SERUM Beta HCG levels two times at an interval of 48 hours. Along with the second Beta HCG do serum Progesterone test.
Increase in HCG LEVEL by atleast 66% and serum progesterone level of more than 25ng/ ml suggest that pregnancy is progressing normally. This will help her to decide to postpone her training.

Please note that if levels are below the values I mentioned then they are not 100% accurate to confirm that pregnancy is not progressing normally. In that case repeat evaluations will be necessary.
I hope this helps.
If you have further queries, I will be happy to answer.
With best wishes,
Dr Rama
