Question: I'm a light skinned XXXXXXX XXXXXXX but whenever I get a scratch on my skin or acne related scars heal and become jet black. I have tried creams with hydroquinone but when I stop applying, the scar becomes blacker than it was originally. Is there a pill I can take to control the production melanin?

Brief Answer:
Pigmented scars, take regular treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same .
Now your main problem is that of development of pigmented scars .
You have been using hydroquinone based creams . I hope you have been applying them at night only. These creams are not to be used during daytime.
I would advise you to start intake of tablet vitamin c in the dose of 500 mg once a day. You may take it for upto two months .
In addition, you can either continue to apply hydroquinone cream at night or you can apply kojic acid cream twice a day over the pigmented areas.
In addition, most importantly you should regularly use a good sunscreen with a spf of atleast 26 regularly over your exposed areas since sunlight causes increased pigmentation .
You should re apply it every three hours if you stay out in the sun .
