Question: I had Botox injections in forehead and I now have a big bump on the right side of my forehead. Is that from the Botox. Will it go away

Brief Answer:
Most likely to be a hematoma

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Bumps and/or lumps seen after botox injections are most probably a collection of blood or fluids which will self-reseolve in a few days time.

I would advise you not to worry and wait a few days, as this will slowly show signs of resolution. Please write back to me if this does not resolve in about 7 days (latest) or schedule an appointment with your prescribing doctor. I wish you loads of luck.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to be of assistance.

Best wishes.

It has been more than a few days. Dr said it felt like a bone and was always there. He said the smoothness of my forehead made it show up more. I do have a small dent next to the bump. He is a certified plastic surgeon, but I do not believe what he is saying, I really do think it is from the Botox! If it is a hematoma, do you think when the Botox is gone the lump will leave. I had it x-rayed and the report came back that everything looked normal. I think you can tell I am concerned?.......By the way, I am a woman not a male.
Thx, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
X-ray normal; certain it is a side effect of the procedure

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again XXXXXXX

Thank you so much for that information.

I have seen quite a few individuals with such issues although I am not a plastic surgeon. Most of the cases present so because of a hematoma as I had mentioned earlier and it will self-resolve.

But as your doctor has examined it as well, and thinks it could be something made more prominent from the enhanced smoothness of your forehead. This has also come up with many patients, although it is not something that will get resolved. It would help though to visualise the region, could you attach an image of the region in speaking to our discussion. You can do so on this page itself, or send the images (clear ones) to:

kindly mention "Dr. Shoaib Khan" in the subject line

If at all it is a dent or hematoma caused due to the botox injection, it should self resolve. I would also like to point out that many individuals, including celebrities have suffered consequences of these injections. So please consider them with caution and understand what can happen if things go wrong.

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further XXXXXX. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
