What Causes Balanitis?

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: About 6 months ago my foreskin tore, so I did not masturbate for a month or stretch my foreskin to just let it heal. In that time my foreskin has gotten a white ring around it, causing pain to pull back and I cannot pull it back all the way. Also I am noticing some small cuts on the white area. Not sure what to do, I have been looking around and the only thing I have thought off is to use an anti fungal cream but not sure if that is the right solution.

Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query.

It seems that you are having an infection called balanitis. It might be a fungal infection or a bacterial infection.
You should retract gently the foreskin daily and soak in warm water .It is very important to keep the area clean and remember gently retraction, to avoid injury.
-Apply clotrimazole twice a day for some days .If the symptoms seem to improve, continue it until the infection clears up.
If the symptoms doesn't seem to improve at all after some days of applying the antifungal cream ,you should stop it an apply Bacitracin cream 3 times a day.
If the symptoms doesn't seem to improve in few days ,you may need to consult a physician.A swab test of the secretions to determine the cause of the infection might be necessary.

Hope this helps.
Let me know if you need further help.

Kind regards,
Dr.Rovena Murati

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Apologize for the delay.

The three types can treat the same infections.Athletes foot, jock itch are caused from the same infection ( a ringworm) ,only the localization of the infection is different.
You can take the jock itch cream.

If the symptoms doesn't seem to improve or you can't retract the foreskin back ,then you will need to consult a physician.

Take care,
Dr.Rovena
