What Causes Back Pain And Pubic Bone Pain After Intercourse?

Posted on Mon, 17 Apr 2017
Question: I have what I think is a UTI and it started3 dyas after having sex with my soon to be ex-husband( I was not aware at that time he was going to be!)I am highly allergic to all of the good antibiotics. I have taken doxy-cycline,only thing I can tolerate now for 7 days and at first seemed to work, now it is back and I have pain on my left side of my pubic bone inside and my left back is now hurting as well. I cannot go to the ER without a referral and my UTI is not considered a "medical emergency" and my Dr. is always off on fridays. My urinalysis showed no blood and hardly any bacteria(it was late in the day and I had been drinking lots of water if that counts) What can I do and does the hospital have an injection antibiotic that will work on this painful health problem. I am allergic to penicillin, Cipro,Keflex,z-pack. Either antifalatic shock or seizures on these. HELP! I cannot take Bactrim either.

Brief Answer:
In this situation you can use nitrofurantoin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! I have been through your question.
Related your concern and based on your allergic history I think that in this situation you can use nitrofurantoin and lenycist tb (with cranberry).
Furthermore I need to see an attached picture of your urinalysis result in order to define better the diagnosis.
During this time you should continue to drink a lot of water and natural tea.

I hope my answer helps you. I wish you a quick recovery. Feel free to ask me further. Regards.

Hello,
How did this even occur please?
With all my allergies I CAN take macrobid I assume? Also I have had this for over 3 weeks and have guzzled water cranberry juice by the gallon as well as the anti-biotic. My mother said she had a UTI and her doctor( in another state)gave her a shot of a medicine starting with an "R" and within 3 hours she was much better and eventually within a day was literally cured. The side effects of Macrobid look extremely troubling to me, as I have had so many bad life threatening reactions! Is there a "shot" that can be administered from the ER once I get a referral from my Dr. ?
Thank You,

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank You for following up.
I have been through your question.

Yes, I think you could take Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) as it belongs to a different antibiotic class that has no connection with above-mentioned antibiotics that you are allergic.

But related your symptoms (back pain and pubic bone pain) I think that this is not enough to say that the urinary infection persists based this as well in the urinalysis result.

So, I'd suggest to get done abdominal ultrasound and urine analysis (taken early in morning) in order to define the exact diagnosis.

According to the antibiotic starting with 'R' that your mother had in ER I think could be Rocephin that is ceftriaxone that belongs an antibiotic group(cephalosporins) that you are allergic.

I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a quick recovery.
Regards.
