What Causes Back Pain And Pain In The Ribs?

Question: Recently, pain in left back, apx 4" from spine, just below ribs, primarily when reclining in bed on back, stomach, or right side. no pain while sitting. off/on while standing.

Hi and welcome to HCM.

If this pain changes its intensity during movements as you say,then this is more likely to be muscular pain or pinched intercostal nerve and it should respond on analgetics such as diclofenac or Ibuprofen.
If this is associated with nausea or vomit then this may indicate gallbladder stones or pancreatitis and you should do abdominal CT scan or ultrasound and check your liver markers.
