What Causes Back Pain And Hematuria After Taking Amoxicillin?

Question: I am being treated for a urinary tract infection/ possible kidney. I have been on amoxicillin for 6 days now. My temp is 100.3 I have streaks of blood when I wipe on tissue, my back hurts and my head.

Hello
Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have pan in your back ,fever and being treated with Amoxicillin suspecting to be UTI.

Considering the back ache and mild hematuria that you have the possibility of you having kidney stone has to be ruled out.

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis,
1) Routine urine test and urine culture to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
2) Ultrasound scanning of the abdomen to rule out presence of stone in kidney.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefexine along with urinary antiseptic like Nitrofurantoin twice daily and urine alkaliser thrice daily.Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Further treatment will be decided by him depending upon the results of these tests.

Ensure to drink more water.To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
