Brief Answer:
May be antibiotic (pentids) induced oral thrush.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and understand the concern.

Yes,antibiotic (like pentids,a penicillin) might cause oral thrush which is basically a fugal infection by candida.

However,I will need to inspect your tongue to confirm it.

For that, clinical picture of your tongue will be helpful, you can send me if possible.

Meanwhile,do salt water gargles twice daily and make a habit of cleaning of tongue during brushing your teeth.

Antiseptic mouth wash (like chlorhexidine) will also be helpful.

You may need topical anti-fungal applications but after the confirmation of oral thrush and from your blood culture report. You may also discuss with your family doctor.

Hope this helps.Let me know if you need more help.

Brief Answer:
Likely oral thrush from the picture.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome again.

It is likely oral thrush from the picture you posted here.

Topical anti-fungal agents like clotrimazole (like candid mouth paint) application for 3-4times daily over the tongue will be helpful along with mouth gargles as I suggested earlier.

Drink plenty of cold water to maintain hydration.
Maintain a good oral hygiene and salt water gargles may help.
Avoid stress, spicy and acidic foods..
Avoid carbonated drinks, alcohol, tobacco and mint and cinnamon containing foods and toothpastes..

We may expect to see improvement within 7 to 10 days with this treatment. You can also discuss it with your family doctor.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Dr.Sandip Kabra
