I have had a history of acidity in the past, i was diagnosed wirg h-pilori in XXXXXXX this year but that was treated and I've since been examined and im ok. I also have a hiatice hernia which usually doesnt give me problema. I avoid acidic type foods as a rule whenever i can. I'm not sure if it's related so I would like more information because its like a strange type of belch.

Brief Answer:
Another gastroscopy should be considered.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such amonia type belching can indicate Helicobacter Pylori infection recurrence. Peptic ulcer in general can give amonia like reflux. This is more possible especially that you have had some acidity and H.Pylori infection before.
Coffee is a great stimulant of stomach acid secretion. Connected with stress, irregular meals intake (like during long distance travel) is strong factor of peptic ulcer.

That is why I suggest you to consult your gastrologist at first. Gastroscopy should be repeated to see the stomach condition. Some antiacid medicines might be necessary.

In a meanwhile please avoid any coffee, chocolate, orange juices, fatty foods, spicy foods, fried foods and alcohol. If you do chew gum, smoke, eat fast or drink carbonated drinks, please also try to eliminate this components as well.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Hello. I live in Zambia and the closest G-scope can only be performed in South XXXXXXX Do you recommend I repeat the tripple therapy I took previously? I have been chewing a lot of gum during the day and intake of caffenie has also gone up since i started feeling better. Usually one cup per day but last week i had to travel a lot and increased consumption to at least three doses. Could this have triggered it? I took an anti acid tonight but its just home therapy.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Try diet and anti acids first.

Detailed Answer:
Gastroscopy is not extremely necessary right now. If its not available for you, you may try some home treatment for few days and see if this will help.

Chewing gum causes increased air swallowing which in result can give belching. Like I have said before, coffee is a very strong factor of acid reflux or even peptic ulcer.

So yes, chewing gum and increased coffee intake could trigger it.

Do not take triple therapy for H.Pylori without proper diagnostics. As gastroscopy is not available for you, please try to have at least stool test for H.Pylori.

For now, you may continue anti acid medicines (once a day in the morning before any meal) for a week or so along with mentioned diet modification.

If it wont help, than you should have gastroscopy done somehow.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
