default
Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2015
Question: I have acute rib pain from coughing. I was diagnosed by bronchitis, and given a prescription for steroids and an antibiotic (cefprozil) to help with this. I continue to cough hard and cannot get relief from the rib pain. Naproxen provided no relief. What are my options?

Brief Answer:
Bronchitis causes it. Gastritis pain can be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Acute rib pain with cough diagnosed as bronchitis is well put on steroids and antibiotics. COugh takes times even after bronchitis management, it relieves slowly. Symptomatic care with antitussives and home remedies like warm comforting beverages as green tea mixed with honey etc helps with the cough.

RIb pain can be due to simultaneous problem with stomach as gastritis can cause this pain as well . If you have stomach problems in past, i would consider some antacids like nexium for that and see if the pain is relieved. Also use of steroids on its own may cause right hypochondrium pain.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.
