Question: I had a laser hair removal treatment at my doctor's office (Cosmetic Surgeon). The area treated was chin/under chin. The area broke out in acne, and with some large lumps. Is this normal?

Brief Answer:
Yes,this acne or bumps are seen but may get subsided within week.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Acne breakouts or large bumps which could be cystic acne is not a uncommon after laser hair removal (LHR).

It would be useful if you could take a clinical picture of that and upload it on the right side of query page as there is a feature to send the images.

However, you can take benzoyl peroxide 10% cream or lotion with antibiotics like doxycycline 100 mg or cefixime 200 mg to get rid off this.

It will get subsided within 1 week and generally this kinds of acne or bumps can be seen in first 1 or 2 sittings of the LHR.

Avoid rubbing or do not scratch that area although you do not have itching.

If still your symptoms persists then you should consult your treating doctor.

Hope this will help you.
