What Causes Absence Of Bleeding Despite Taking MTP Pills?

Question: Hi doctor yesterday night I used 1 tab of MTP but in mrng bleeding not started then in mrng I eat 2 tablets and 2 tablets put inside the vagina then bleeding started around 3pm now normal bleeding is going on I m 5 weeks pregnant.. Kindly suggest what I need to do now.

I can understand your concerns,

After taking mtp pills, woman bleeds for 2 weeks. In first 1-2 days heavy bleeding and later days normal bleeding. After 2weeks , you should go for ultrasound to confirm complete abortion.

Hi Doctor just want to know abortion is completed now..or further I need to take MTP..currently is bleeding very slow..not like yesterday.. Clots is also not coming now..was I used MTP in proper manner or not..kindly suggest

Heavy bleeding occurs only for 1-2 days after that minimal bleeding.

Most women experience passing of products of conception (fetus in sac).

You can rule out any retained products of conception by going for ultrasound after 2weeks.

Hi Doctor my bleeding is stop now.. Bleeding was for 1 day only..now few drops of blood is coming.. Pls confirm my abortion is completed.. Or I have take another MTP if yes then pls suggest after how many days I have to take MTP..waiting for ur revert..

Hello again.

Bleeding for only 1 day may be enough for abortion.

Light bleeding may continue for 4-5 days or longer.

Abortion can be confirmed by ultrasound after 2 weeks.

You need not take MTP pills now again.

If some of the products of conception are still detected, it can be removed by misoprostol 200mcg twice a day for three days (with doctor's guidance ).
