What Causes Abdominal Pain While On Levogastrol?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Oct 2016
Question: I am taking 3 x 25 mg levogastrol for dyspepsia
I have taken them for 3 weeks and they are prescribed till end of year
It says to take 30 mins before eating every 8 hours
The thing is I dont eat 3 times a day
I eat in morning at 8.30 and then 2 oclock or 8 oclock. One main meal a day
So I am taking them without eating and trying to to stick to the 8 hour
Which is more important the 8 hour interval or taking before food
I do not have access to Doctor anymore,to ask.
The dyspepsia seems to have gone but I have terrible wind,,noisy but no smell and an urgency to very early in morning to defecate,Sometimes 3 times a day. Not loose and no constipation
Is this normal
I also have a very bad stabbing pain in my admoden above the groin..round bladder I suppose and pain in thigh. I was treated for sciatica 8 months ago and I have episodes of pain in groin and limb but not had stabbing pain in low admoden
I was prescibed Artilog then and it seemed to sort the problem out but can I take them with Levogastrol?
Also I am losing sleep as I have pain in my right limb and also pain in admoden Paraceptomol 500 seems to hols it back but not for lon, Can I take 5mg of Zolpiden or eben 10 mg
Its the interactions of these drugs that I need to check due to lack of contact with prescribing medics
Many thanks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms might be due to drug interactions

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
1) For Levogastrol, yes stick to schedule of 8 hour interval. It is suggested to take empty stomach (1 hour before or 2 hour after any meal) to increase its absorption from intestine and to prevent breakdown of medicine in intestine by digestive enzymes, which secrete during meals
2) Levogastrol corrected dyspepsia. Then you develop symptoms of passing wing, urgency and increased frequency of stool. These symptoms either associated with condition Irritable Bowel Syndrome or it might be associated with Tab. Artilog as mild side effect (indigestion).
3) Yes, If unbearable pain interfere your sleep schedule then you may take Tab. Zolpiden after consulting your treating doctor for this.
4) Consumption of Tab. Artilog beyond acceptable daily dosage may develop stomach ulcer which can cause abdominal pain and nausea. So try to keep daily dosage of Tab. Artilog on lower side.
5) As you might have two side effects of Tab. Artilog (indigestion, cramp type abdominal pain), I suggest to keep this medication on lower side of daily dosage.
6) This platform is not proper way to prescribe medicines as this not allow to examine patient physically, so in absence of your medic who prescribe medications for you, you should consult alternate physician who is available. From my side, your symptoms might associated with side-effects of few medications.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Thank you
On the prospectus ut says that it is best taken before food..at best half an hour
You have given me conflicting instruction, saying best on empty stomach
I am now totally confused about when to take this medication Does it matter and are the 8 hour intervals more important ????

I have not started taking Artlog as it was prescribed should my scaitica come back not as a constant mediaction
The artilog is here in my house for he return of this condition as it was very sucessful 7 months ago in treating the sciatica,,,but it was for only 2 weeks
My question was SHOULD I decide to take one artilog per day {200mg Celecoxib] whilst taking Levogastrol. Needed only to know if there were any contradictions in the drugs
Same question for Zolpidem..but I think you were clear there were no contradictions
I do not take any other drugs except 100mg Thyroxine for thyroid supplement
I also take Vitamin B, magnesium and MSM, Choindroitin and Glucosamine as food supplements to help with outbreaks of sciatica caused by small area of arthritis in my spine. Not so bad but chronic as it keeps returning, If I can take Celecoxib this will help me. I find my daily exercise of walking for 2 x 30 minutes gets rid of sciatica but nice to have the help, when needed ,of medication
Sorry to be so wordy but do not want to take drugs that contradict even if it is only for the most 2 weeks XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Follow up clarifications

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
1) In general, empty stomach means you should not take medication along with diet. This means you can take medication at least one hour before (not half hour) also you can take two hour after taking any meal. This is about relation of medication with food intake. Along with this schedule you should keep interval of 8 hour and if required you might prepond/postpond your meal in accordance with medication schedule but keep it either one hour before or two hour after food
2) You can take T. Celecoxib but try to keep single dose per day and for minimum days as possible. In case you develop nausea, upper abdominal pain, decreased appetite, indigestion then i suggest to stop T. Celecoxib for few days.
