Question: I have a deep dull ache on my left mid abdomen. It intensifies when I lay on my left side. Could it be my spleen?

Brief Answer:
more likely to be gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Your symptoms appear to me as more of gastritis and less of spleen.

If you don't have any other symptoms like fever or heaviness on the left side then its less likely to be due to spleen.

I would suggest that you take a course of a ppi tablets like pantaprazole or omeprazole for few days and see if there is any improvement. If its there then continue the ppj for a few weeks.

If it doesn't, then get an ultrasound of your abdomen and consult a surgeon with the report for a clinical evaluation and subsequent management.

Hope I have been helpful.

Thank you. I have been under great amount of stress. Is the medication you suggested over-the-counter or does it require a doctor's perscription?

Brief Answer:
check at your chemist

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Don't take much stress as stress worsens gastritis. PRILOSEC OTC is available as over the counter (Omeprazole)

And you need to check at your chemist regarding those medicine, as i have no idea about other brands in your region.
