What Causes A Smelly Penile Discharge?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 May 2014
Question: I have clear gooey stuff coming out of my penis during the day. I've had sex 3 times in 9 months and no masterbating
Is it the body getting rid of sperm this way as waste or is it a STI ?
It tends to smell by the end of the day !
It's really embarrassing .

Brief Answer:
Infection is most likely...

Detailed Answer:
It is difficult to properly diagnose the penile discharge without doing an exam, however, it is possible that this is an infection. I would strongly advise that you see a doctor to get cultures done, as these infections are usually easily treated. Even if you haven't had sex often, it is still possible to have gotten an std. Any time you have persistent foul smelling discharge infection needs to be ruled out.

The body usually gets rid of extra semen and sperm when you have nocturnal emissions during the night. It is usually not with a persistent discharge like you describe. There are also some infections that may not be sexually transmitted, but these can be tested for and treated as well.

I hope this answers your question. please feel free to ask if you need any additional information.

Plot thickens. I work away for a living. I had randomb sex with another woman without protection as i knew i was clean and she said she was as i asked. Also I have a pregnant wife who has just given birth. I had sex with her a month or so ago. About the same time i noticed this! I have been to a GP and they said take zythromax 5oomg x2 tablets. Now will this cure me? What about my wife and child, what can i do? Can i get them zythromax if i XXXXXXX up? Im feeling really guilty right now!

Brief Answer:
we'll get through this

Detailed Answer:
I understand your dilemma. the Zithromax will cure the most common std, which is chlamydia. it won't cure everything. if you were treated with the pills before you had sex with your wife, then you can get tested now, and if you are clean, you won't need to tell her anything, as you have been treated and had sex with her after that.

however, if you took the pills after you had sex with your wife, then even if your tests are clean now, you may have given her something when you had sex, and she would need to get tested.

let me know when you were treated so we can figure this out

Brief Answer:
You need to get tested first

Detailed Answer:
Congratulations on your new baby! I think your first step has to be to get yourself tested to make sure that you don't have anything right now and that you are clean.

If you currently have any infections and the tests are positive, you will need to make sure that she gets treated as well. I don't think there will be any way out of that. However, if you are currently clean, there may be a way for you to keep it discreet.

It is very likely that she has been tested for std's as part of her routine pregnancy care. Cultures are often done routinely and she may have tested negative already. Depending on the standard of care in your area, screening may have been done during the last month of pregnancy. So if she tested negative and you do as well, you can keep it to yourself and be careful in the future not to expose yourself to any potential diseases.

I hope this helps, please feel free to let me know if you need more information.
