Brief Answer:
please get evaluated--for the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using HCM.

I can understand your situation.

Rapid heart rate or medically termed tachycardia/palpitations can be due to various reasons like stress or anxiety related, fever, infection, pain related, cardiac problems, drug induced (especially bronchodilators), hormonal variations (thyroid),hypoxia, electrolyte imbalance & many other reasons.

Tab advil(ibuprofen) & tums (antacid) what you have mentioned have no role in decreasing the rate.

Please de-stress yourself.

If your symptoms are persistent, added with chest pain, chest discomfort, sweating, shortness of breath, I would suggest you to go to the emergency to get an ECG, serum electrolytes, complete haemogram, chest x-ray done & get your vitals checked.

Beta-blockers like propanolol & metoprolol in low doses will give you timely relief,(if not contraindicated)

I would again suggest you to go for a cardiac evaluation, if these palpitations are non receding with prolonged duration

Hoping for your early relief of the symptoms.

All the best
Take care

Thanks. I am no longer experiencing rapid heartbeat after I took a sleep. I suspect that it has to do with the mix of coffee and alcohol. But I will make an appointment for a cardiac evaluation. Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you once again

Coffee can be the culprit in your case.

My sincere advice to you is please try to avoid excess of coffee,as caffeine can induce tachycardia.

Side effects of alcohol can lead you into cardiac problems.

For your prophylactic safety,it is better to under go cardiac evaluation.
