Brief Answer:
superficial thromobophlebitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
This looks likes a superficial thromobophlebitis. That is a clot with inflammation in a superficial vein.
This is not dangerous like a deep vein thrombosis, in that it will not move and cause a clot that moves to your lung.
It can however become infection and need treatment.
For tonight I would put warm compresses on it and try to see your doctor tomorrow.
However if you have fever, develop pain or if it is spreading rapidly then you should go to Emergency tonight
Regards,
Dr. Robinson

I'm traveling for a couple of weeks and can't see my doctor. I am elevating the leg and keeping warm compresses on it. I will keep a close eye on it and should it worsen I will head to an emergency room. Fortunately I'm in the U.S. And not abroad.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
good plan

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
That is a good plan. If you develop fever, pain or rapid progression of the redness going to an urgent care of emergency department right away is the best thing to do. I hope it goes away soon with the warm compresses and elevation
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
