What Causes A Mushroom Shaped Lump On The Middle Finger?

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Aug 2017
Question: I have what looks like a mushroom shape about the size of a pencil eraser. It is exposed muscle and it has popped through the skin on my right middle finger just below the 1st bend. I thought I had a sticker in it and tried to dig it out, I got a scab on it and then it was really bugging me so I picked it off. It came off like a cap and bled a lot. Then it the muscle pushed out and it's not healing. At first it didn't hurt at all and I could push it back in the hole. But now I can't and it is becoming painful and super sensitive, it no longer bleeds but a clear liquid drains from it.

Brief Answer:
Surgical removal required

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM. It looks to me like pyogenic granuloma or fibroma and in every case it should be surgically removed and sent to patohistologic analysis. No cream can help at this point and hand surgeon should be consulted. Some more serious tumors are rare but only analysis can rule these out for sure. Wish you good health. Regards
