Brief Answer:
it could be an abscess.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.
After reading your post, it seems that you might be having an abscess.
I would suggest that you should get yourself clinically examined by a surgeon and get it drained under aseptic conditions.
A painkiller like Ibuprofen twice daily after meals along with an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg will help in controlling your pain.
Antibiotic coverage should be started after clinical evaluation done by the surgeon.
I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help.
Regards. Thanks.

Is it possible that it's a pimple or insect bite of some sort? The only reason I ask is because it's not hard to the touch, but a little pain if I press the center of it.

Brief Answer:
it seems to be an abscess.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for providing more information.
Your symptoms seems more towards an abscess. Insect bite will be accompanied by itching. Pain from pimple will be of less severity and the inflammation will not increase like you have mentioned.
As I have already mentioned that a clinical examination by your doctor will help in diagnosing and treatment of your symptoms.
I hope this answers your query. If you have any further doubts, please mention.
Regards. Thanks.
