What Causes A Drop In WBC Levels In Blood?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Apr 2016
Question: My new GP has noticed that my white blood cell count has been lower than normal for about three years. previous GPs have never mentioned it.
It coincides with a hip and thigh replacement and I wondered if they could be connected.

Brief Answer:
They are not likely connected. What are the numbers? What drugs did you take

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this low White blood count that you have reported. It is unlikely that both are related unless you used a drug during that time which was toxic to the producing cells(bone marrow). Please, report all the drugs you used to me for review and comments.

However, that surgery alone cannot explain the drop in WBC. Additionally, upload teh entire report for a second opinion and interpretation about the WBC.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

There were no additional drugs prescribed at the time and my GP has looked at that possibility. The next stage is to see a haematologist I think because the possibility of myeloma has been suggested. Thanks for your help - at least it's ruled out something else.

Brief Answer:
Myeloma???

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Myeloma is anemia, low back pain and proteins in urine. Let your doctor follow through if this sounds like you.

I wish you well and keep me updated.
