What Causes A Dark Brown Patch On The Forehead Of An Infant?

Question: Dear Sir. My 18 month old girl baby has a dark brown patch on her forehead. it is one and half inch bigger. not growing. it developed after 14 days of birth. how tp get rid of that. is there laser or any cosmetic surgery. at what age she can undergo those. pls help me

Thanks for writing back and for attaching the image. It indeed seems to be a hypermelanotic nevus. You will have to be patient. There is no direct method of removing it. However, it is likely to fade with time. The degree of fading however cannot be predicted.

You can later visit a dermatologist and discuss the options like laser therapy and cryo to see if they could be helpful.
