What Causes A Cluster Of Small Lumps On Abdomen Around The Rib Cage?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016
Question: I have a couple random small lumps in my abdomen around my rib cage. they move around when I push them but occasionally they give a burning or stinging sensation. there doesn't seem to be much pattern as to when they hurt...it seems fairly random. what could these be and is it serious?

Brief Answer:
I don't think this should be a cause for concern, but would recommend a physical examination..

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. These could be either a cyst or an abscess based on their exact location, feel, etc. But a most accurate diagnosis can only be made by a physical examination, which is why I recommend a visit to a doctor.

But I do not see any major cause for concern, a physical examination should help confirm the diagnosis and accordingly direct treatment ma'am.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
I am glad I could be of assistance, a request if you don't mind

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

I am sorry I didn't know that, but I am glad to help. Before closing this discussion, as we have at least another follow up question, do you mind attaching clear images of the region where these lumps exist or try and hold them up for me in the image?

You can either attach the image to our discussion here or email them to me at:

YYYY@YYYY

But please do mention 'ATTN: Dr. Shoaib Khan' in the subject line so the team can easily direct the images to me.

Best wishes.

Here is a picture of my abdomen. the lumps are all above that black line. There isn't any outward indication of them. they are all probably about a half in inch big, give or take. and they don't always hurt...only occasionally.

Brief Answer:
I have not received them yet, pls make sure you sent them correctly

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

I cannot view the images? Did you attach them or email them?

If you attached them, then they should appear immediately, but as I cannot view them it means you have not attached them.

But if you have emailed them to me, then it can take some time for them to reach me as the team needs to forward it to me. But just to make sure, did you send it to the below mentioned email address along with my name in the subject line:

YYYY@YYYY

?

Best wishes.

I tried several times to attach it but kept getting an error so I finally emailed it. I'm trying one more time to attach it in hopes it comes through. if not, rest assured it has been emailed.

Brief Answer:
I received it ma'am, seems like a cyst or lipomas to me

Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'am.

I received the image and have reviewed it as well, the location points more towards 2 of the following options:

1. Either the ribs itself that you are palpating, but this will not be a movable lump

2. If the lumps are movable, then it is related to cyst or lipomas which are both innocent

But when you do get a chance to get your insurance, it is always safe to get it checked ma'am. :)

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help. Please do not think twice to ever write to me anytime in the future should you need any guidance and/or advise.

Best wishes.
