Brief Answer:
Complete recovery may take upto 2weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to address your query.

UTI is due to the retrograde spread of bacteria during sex.

I would be glad to know some more information to help you better.
-What do you mean by gave my oral with?
-What type of sexual intercourse did you have- penile-vaginal, penile-anal, penile-oral?Infection rate depends on the type of sex.

If you are having back ache this can be due to initial stages of pyelonephritis or prostatitis (kidney/ureter or prostate infection and inflammation). I were to rule out by doing a ultrasound abdomen.

I were to do urine culture and choose an appropriate antibiotic depending on sensitivity.

Your partner could have acquired the infection from you since the bacteria can get transferred during sexual contact. Both of you need to be treated simultaneously (blanket therapy) to get rid of UTI.

Nothing to panic. Complete the course which your MD has advised and you shall get well within 1-2 weeks(since you may need the antibiotics more than a week).

Brief Answer:
Examination; Cipro acts only on STD bacteria

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear.Thanks for writing back.

UTI is due to spread of bacteria in the retrograde direction.I were to do both urine analysis/culture and Ultrasound abdomen if your backache persists as mentioned previously.

Ciprofloxacin acts on STD causing bacteria (chlamydia) but not on the virus (Genital herpes, warts) which cause STD.

I were to examine both and rule out if the itching is caused due to STD's and plan further management.

Hope this answers your query.
