Brief Answer:
Suspecting hives

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for choosing health care magic for your query.

I have gone through your query and I am suspecting hives in your case based on the duration of symptoms and description of rashes mentioned in your query.

Hives, also known as Urticaria, are an outbreak of swollen, pale red bumps and patches that appear suddenly and this forms the rash.

Hives vary in size and they may join together forming larger areas known as
plaques and may last for few hours to days.

These are caused by allergy mainly due to skin being exposed directly to chemicals in elastic, latex and rubber products, cosmetics, soaps, detergents and dyes.

Some foods also may cause this kind of rashes like nuts, chocolate, fish and eggs.

This allergy causes release of a chemical called histamine which is usually responsible for swelling of skin, hands and feet.

I would suggest Tab Atarax 25 mg thrice daily after food for three days.

Application of calamine lotion over the rashes will sooth the affected area.

If the rash and swelling does not reduce within a day or two, you have to get in touch with a GP to rule out other causes.

Few more tips for faster relief:

1. Avoid scrubbing or scratching your skin.
2. Use a gentle soap.
3. Use warm water to clean the area.
4. Try over the counter hydrocortisone cream if rash does not fade with calamine.

I hope I have helped you with this answer.

Please get back if any more clarifications.

Thanks.

Yes I know what hives are. these are not hives. it looks like bruising but they are not bruises. they are not painful like bruising. I think it might be blood leaking under the skin.
plus these are swollen feet again like what would happen if you were pregnant. When you press a finger into feet the indentation stays for a while
Neither of these symptoms are painful.

Brief Answer:
Petechial rashes need to be investigated further

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome back.

If you are sure it is not hives, then the description of your symptoms matches petechial rashes which need to be investigated further.

The common causes of such rashes include:
Platelet dysfunction
Rocky mountain spotted fever
Vitamin B12 deficiency

Pitting edema is due to water retention and will reduce by foot end elevation of your bed.

If it does not reduce within 8 hours, then causes of this kind of edema has to be investigated to rule out cardiac, renal and hepatic causes.

I suggest you get in touch with a GP nearby you and get the rash examined.

I hope I have helped.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks.
