What Cause A Laparoscopic Scar To Become Enlarged And Tender??

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Sep 2014
Question: Last December I began noticing changes to the scar in my belly button from a laperoscopic procedure in 2001. The scar was a small keloid, light brown. It has greatly enlarged, and become red and tender. Then in March I began experiencing chronic stomach gurgling. No pain or gas or heart burn symptoms whatsoever, just noise and a fluttering feeling in my stomach. During the past several weeks I began to notice my bowel movements became more irregular, with new lower GI discomfort and gas and some heartburn. During the past few days my abdomen has become swollen, full, and uncomfortable and my bowels locked up. I started bulking up on fiber to try to regulate and I finally did get some relief today, but the abdominal swelling persists. It's not terrible pain but discomfort. I'm a healthy 52 year old woman, 145 lbs, and just had a physical with bloodwork in April and everything was normal. I have perfect cholesterol numbers and blood pressure averages 90/60. I have had abdominal, ovarian and breast cysts. I'm in menopause.

Brief Answer:
Bloating may be from menopause

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query.

Menopausal women are more susceptible to bloating because of hormonal imbalance.
Bloating can be easily managed and even prevented if you make certain lifestyle adjustments and some of them you have done ,add more fibers in your diet.
The most effective are changes in diet and the way you eat.
1.Keep a Diary
Keeping a diary: note when symptoms arise helps to understand what affects or not your bloating .Everybody reacts differently to different foods, experiences, and exercises so keep a diary of when bloating happens, and when it does not.
2.Maintain an Exercise Routine, workout regimen of at least 30 minutes of moderate to mild exercise.
3.Use Relaxation Techniques
4.Stay hydrated and use probiotics including yogurt.
5.Avoid spicy,oily,junk food.
6.Do not skip meals.

As my opinion you do not need to take prilosec because you have not stomach issue.
You can take only probiotics to improve your digestion.

All the best
