Brief Answer:
soreness, ulcer or pus discharge, antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.

The salt taste in your mouth could be because of the ulcer or soreness over the lip. Soreness can occur secondary to trauma caused by the braces.Other possible cause could be a pus discharge from the gums or an abscess secondary to tooth or gum infection.

In my opinion you need to consult your orthodontist and get yourself examined completely to rule out any infection. In the interim you can use topical analgesic and anesthetics to relieve the soreness that will solve the salty taste. Your pharmacist will know about these products.
A course of antibiotic is entailed. Once the infection comes down then we can treat the gum or the tooth.

Hope my answer will help you. If any queries are there reply me back.

take care.
