What Can Be The Side Effects Of Repeated Use Of Rabies Vaccines?

Question: Sir i was bitten by dog and I take five dose of rabies vaccine... Within one week of last dose again i was touched by dog... But i was confused about it it touch or not.. So i take another five dose of rabies vaccine... It causes problems??
Taking too much vaccine within short time cause problems??? I take abhayrab vaccine... Is it safe??? Any major side effects of rabies vaccine??? It is harmful to take vaccine without dogbite???

Hi,

In the above scenario I understand that you were in a doubt about the second instant of dog bite. That instance may not require a second round of vaccine.

Since you had already taken it I suggest to leave it there. Do not worry about the after effects of vaccine. The second round of vaccine is neither beneficial nor harmful to you.

It would not cause problems, Abhayrab is safe. You should not experience any major side effects except for pain.

overdose of vaccine cause problems??? it contains virus inactivated by beta propiolactone... it is harmful??? what is t
he safe period after completing full course of rabies vaccine do not require another dose for dog bite??? what is average incubation period for rabies????! usually it requires two dose for reexposure but i take five dose within short time so it will affect me???

Hi again and sorry for the late response. I was busy with other professional obligations.

Overdose of rabies vaccine is safe and any side effects (that are mostly due to the injection itself or allergy) will happen within a day or two. Actually in older days they used to give 14 injections of rabies vaccine and were considered safe. In your case two doses were anyways needed after the bite. You got three excess doses.

Booster vaccine is recommended every two years if there is high risk of exposure e.g., in veterinarians.

The usual time of presentation of symptoms is within 3 – 5 days of injury. Occasionally cases have been reported after 1 year but is rare.

So sir taking extara dose of rabies vaccine will not affect me... Should I worry about it??? I am feeling anxiety about it... i am thinking too much about taking extra vaccine affect me.... In your practice you see cases of my type who take vaccine because of fear???? Should I worry about rabies vaccine extradose???? Please sir reply me.....

I assure that you will not be rabid positive. I have seen only one case where he was physically very well even after 6 months after extra dose.
