What Can I Do To Uncurl My Middle Finger Due To Trigger Finger?

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Oct 2023
Question: I had my fingers curled in to pull a heave bag. Now I can't uncurl my middle finger. This has happened before where my middle finger would get stuck curled in but I was always able to straighten it out, but now it's seems locked in a curling position. What can I do to uncurl it?

Brief Answer:
Probably trigger finger, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I read your query carefully and understand your concern.

Your symptoms seem to be related to trigger finger. It is a condition when the finger stuck in a position.

Some advice that I can give to you to uncurl the finger is:
-Take an anti-inflammatory medication in case of pain. You can use Ibuprofen 400mg 3 times a day after food.
-use a splint at night to keep the finger in an extended position for six weeks.
-avoid strenuous activities that include the hands
-practice stretching exercises.

If you don't get better I'd suggest an X-ray of the finger to exclude any underlying fracture.
I'd also suggest steroid injection. You can consult with your doctor about this treatment.

Hope my answer was helpful. Feel free to ask further.
