What Can I Do To Manage Frequent Seizures In A Child?

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Oct 2023
Question: As per the medicines his seizures are under control and was in the frequency of three to four times times daily.
But yesterday (10.09.2018) at around 10.00 am the seizures started and the episode was in the interval of ten to fifteen seconds and lasted upto 11.30 am.
Which means the seizure lasted for one and a half hours and was taken to the nearby hospital at Tikiri(Rayagada) wherein he was under the supervision of the Paediatrician wherein he was given .

Injection Diazapam and again the seizure reoccurred and was given in with the injection Epsolin .

And he was returned home wherein in the today morning (11.09.2018) at around 5.00 am the episode was there and was with higher intensity.
Can you suggest the line of treatment I could carry for my son as it is quite a hardship taking him to any other places nearby.

Brief Answer:
The patient needs evaluation for a possible epilepsy surgery.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have noted the child's details. Based on that, he is suffering from medically refractory epilepsy. There is very little chance of making him seizure-free with medications. He needs evaluation with MRI brain-epilepsy protocol, long-term video EEG, etc., for a possible epilepsy surgery.

I sincerely hope my reply has helped you. I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.
