Brief Answer:
Yes it is a possibility

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

Yes, based on the examination of your throat it seems so. As slightly erythmatous or hyperemic looks, which are medical terms for conditions in which skins or mucosal blood supply is increased because of inflammatory processes going on, point outs towards early upper respiratory tract infections like tonsillitis as well as pharyngitis. Small whitish spots and mild enlargement of tonsils also point out towards infective origin.

Most commonly causative organisms are gram positive, like streptococci though final opiniom can be given on throat swab cultures, and most effective empirical treatment modalities are antibiotics like augmentin or cephalosporins. If they fail to respond, second line will be macrolides like azithromycin or Fluroquinolones like moxifloxacin. Gargles with saline water or mouth washes alongwith anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen or ibuprofen may also help.
