What Are The Symptoms Of UTI?
Question: Hi, i need to know what is UTI, what different types of uti exist.. im confused with the different types of cytitis? like honeymoon, interstitial etc.. and what are the causes? is it most of the time because of e coli? but most of the time its because of sexual intercourse right? so why is e coli mentioned? im confused.. please detailed answer.. and why tight clothes can cause a uti?

As an Urologist, i can understand your concern.
I shall clear your doubts in order of your questions :
1. UTI is urinary tract infection.
It's detected after doing a urine routine and culture test.
The accurate test is the culture. The routine test is a screening test.
2. UTI is caused by different bacteria,detected on the culture test.
3. E.coli is the commonest bacteria causing UTI.
4. Tight clothes don't cause UTI.
5. UTI is common in sexually active females.
6. Cystitis is inflammation of the bladder mucosal(inner) lining.
Honeymoon cystitis is common in the honeymoon period,hence the term.
Interstitial cystitis is a different entity and not so common.

Drink about ten glasses fluids daily,as it helps prevent UTI.
