Brief Answer:
E. coli only causes symptoms if it causes and infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Symptoms of E. coli infection depends on the area of infection. If it causes an infection in the digestive tract, diarrhea and abdominal pains are common. If the infection is sin the urinary passages, frequent painful urination in small volumes is common. If it causes in the blood, signs of fever, chills, etc. will set in. It might interest you to know we have this germ in our guts and it only causes issues when the population is more than it should be. A mere outbreak shouldn’t get you worried because not all who eat the contaminated food would eventually develop an infection, only a few do actually develop signs of an infection.

I hope this guides and clarifies your worries. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.
