Brief Answer:
different possible causes

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Arthritis refers to disease of the joints due to inflammation/irritation of these joints.

There are a number of different possible causes of arthritis with osteoarthritis being one of the most common causes.
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disorder affecting the cartilage of the joints and also the surrounding areas of the joint. This means that there is a breakdown of this cartilage and also changes to other areas of the joint ( such as synovium-lining of the joint)
This is normally causes by damage to the joint or wear and tear.

There are a lot of other types of arthritis , some of the more common are: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, gout, septic arthritis( due to infection of joints), psoriatic arthritis (associated with skin condition psoriasis), fibromyalgia

Diagnosis of arthritis would require imaging ( xrays or mri or ct) and bloods in some cases (eg lupus, rheumatoid, septic , gout)
If there is fluid in the joints, removal of fluid may be helpful as well

Exact treatment would depend on the type of arthritis present but would likely include : rest if possible, physiotherapy and pain medication as needed

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (46 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
may need imaging

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Arthritis does not usually affect the whole body unless it is related to one of the autoimmune disease (lupus or rheumatoid) or there was wide spread trauma during the accident.

If there was significant trauma and with the history of the limp, you should have imaging of the limb with the limp eg if related to the left leg - hip, knee and ankle should be imaged as well as the lower back

it is my left leg thumping and lowerback swelling and I did mri came back normal
doctor
Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
mri would have shown joint changes

Detailed Answer:
HI

The MRI would normally show changes to the bones and surrounding tissues. It should up changes with the joints and would have shown arthritis.

It may be related to soft tissue changes.

If by thumping , you mean muscle twitching ,this may be due to temporary nerve damage due to trauma.
If you mean blood vessel pulsations, this may also be related to trauma.

Your GP may be able to assess these for you. If it is twitching and does not resolve then a neurologist may be able to help

If anything else unclear, can let me know

Hey I went to the doctor today and they told me I had a lit seg on my thyriod
doctor
Answered by Dr. Michelle Gibson James (16 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
imaging and blood tests may be needed

Detailed Answer:
HI,

If by the terms lit seg, you mean a growth or nodule in the thyroid , this is not serious in all cases.

Imaging of the thyroid is needed as well as thyroid function tests to determine if the thyroid is working well.
In some cases, biopsy (taking a small sample of the lump/mass/nodule) may be needed to seen to the lab so they can take a look
