What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of A Baker's Cyst?

Question: Hi

My husband and I were doing exercises last night that included doing squats and jumping jacks. We did 25 squats and 60 jumping, as well as 20 pushups and 50 crunches. (An exercise I found on Pinterest) anyways, before I went to bed, I noticed that on the back of my legs, behind my knee, I was swelling. Nothing is hard and nothing hurts at all, but its about the size of a small egg and it just looks swollen. Only when I extend my leg. Also, my joints do not hurt and they are not stiff either.

Brief Answer:
It could be Baker's cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Because of continuous friction, fluid from the knee joint will sweep and gets collected beneath the skin in the knee joint. It is called Baker's cyst.
If the diagnosis is confirmed, fluid can be aspirated from the cyst.If gets reaccumulated, steroid can be introduced by injection into the cyst. If there is no response, surgical removal has to be done.
Most of the conditions like Bursitis, haemarthrosis (blood in the joint ) etc present as swelling in the knee joint are painful. As there is no pain , Baker's cyst has to be considered.
You can continue with Ibuprofen along with elevation of the leg.
But,you should consult a doctor, preferably Orthopaedician for exact diagnosis.
Nothing to worry.
Hope I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
