Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

Symptoms of a urinary tract infection can come on fairly quickly. The typical symptoms include urinary frequency and urgency as well as discomfort with urination.

The discomfort can include pain or burning with urination. If your symptoms persist or worsen over the next 24 hours or if you developed fevers or chills or noticed blood in the urine this would be a reason to contact your primary care doctor.

Over-the-counter remedies can sometime help your body eliminate a urinary tract infection but often an antibiotic is needed. As mentioned above please contact your doctor if your symptoms have not improved or resolved within the next 1 to 2 days.

thank you again for sending the question.

Sincerely,

OK. Thank you. It's not cloudy, just feels like razor blades coursing through my urethra. Is it possible that a change in exercise regimen can bring this on? The last two days, I've been running on the mountain. Typically, I run on the treadmill... actually I walk on the treadmill.

I once had very strong smelling urine after a run back in college. Is this a possibility? The color is normal as of the last trip to the bathroom, and no distinguishable smell, but a bit painful.

Detailed Answer:
hello again.

I really don't think the running has caused your symptoms.

I strongly suspect that you do have a urinary tract infection. A short three day course of antibiotics will typically clear this up very quickly.

sometimes if your ring is very concentrated it can't have a foul smell. This can happen when someone is mildly dehydrated. In that type of setting however, we do not usually see significant pain with urination. This is another reason why I suspect you do have a bacterial infection of the urinary tract.

Thanks again for sending your question.
