Question: Hi, I am scheduled for Reclast (Zoledronic acid) infusion next Tuesday for Paget's disease. I had 280 reading of ATP; had bone scans etc. but I feel good and have no noticeable symptoms. I am 69 and fear some of the side effects of this procedure. It was determined to be in lower lumbar region. What is outlook if I forgo treatment at this time?

Brief Answer:
Paget's disease

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have Paget's disease and have been recommended to start reclast treatment. First Paget's disease is a disease where the bone is being metabolized quickly and with irregular bone mineralization. This can lead to fractures if not treated. You would not necessarily have any symptoms now but in a few years you could be really hurting. The Reclast helps stop the quick overturn of bone and allow for better bone mineralization and prevention of bone fractures. I would recommend that you proceed with the infusion because the benefits do outweigh the risks.
