Brief Answer:
Most likely amoxicillin side effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I am Dr.Sandip Kabra and shall be answering your question.

Stools are normally yellow brown in color due to bile pigments.

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic which kills the normal bacterial flora in the gut. This commonly leads to formation of loose, black and tarry stools while on amoxicillin treatment.

Diarrhea is also a common side effect as well.

However it is not something very alarming.

I would suggest not to worry too much about the colour change. You can take a prebiotic capsules or yogurt rich in lactobacilli cultures. They would normalise your intestinal flora which is wiped out by amoxicillin.

I hope this helps you and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
