Brief Answer:
Avoid steroids if you have severe osteoporosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello! There are several types of drugs used to treat IBD - Aminosalicylates (mesalazine, olsalazine, balsalazide, sulfasalazine), Corticosteroids ( Prednisone. prednisolone, budesonide), Immunomodulators(Azathioprine. methotrexate, cyclosporine, 6-MP), Antibiotics (metronidazaole, ciprofloxacin) and Biologic therapies (targeting very specific molecules involved in inflammation).
Side effects vary from one drug to another. However generally one sees the following side effects : Skin reactions at injection sites (pain, swelling, redness, rash itching), headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upper respiratory infection, mood changes, alterations in sleep habit, abdominal pain, joint aches, acne, easy bruisability, round appearance of the face and neck, osteoporosis, weight gain, agitation, anxiety, tingling in arms or feet, darkening of skin and loss of appetite.
Since you've mentioned having severe osteoporosis I would recommend using steroids with caution and then too with additional Calcium and Vitamin D. I hope
