Question: Hi Doctor,
Yesterday Evening One stray dog tried to catch my left hand.I checked with the owners of the dog and they told that the dog was not vaccinated. it is present in my office. My fingers were almost in its mouth but i removed my hand quickly to avoid its bite. But i could feel its toungue and teeth touch my fingers .saliva of the dog was there to my fingers. so i cleaned my hands immediately with dettol hand wash twice. After that i have throbbing pain on my middle finger and itching sensation. there was no cut on my skin by any chance. I put some ice pack on that and then today the pain hasreduced but not completely. I am sharing pics with u where in i rounded off the part. Bruise was also present, but my hands look swoolen all the time (i mean thats the ways the are ) there was mild bruise and itchinnes and throbbing pain were present yesterday but today they are reduced but still i have some pain and itching sensation and throbbing pain of nerve. Please do suggest me if i have to take rabies injection or not . Thanking you sir

Brief Answer:
No need if the dog is vaccinated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXXXXX

There is no need to worry if the dog is vaccinated.

There are no open wounds in your finger. The pain could be due to you taking the finger out of the dogs mouth suddenly.

Just apply ice cubes so that the pain is reduced.

If you see any small scratches apply T. BACT ointment.

Take care.
