Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on - Ask a Doctor - service!

Regarding your question, let me explain that CPR strategy will depend on the settings where we have to apply it and also by medical knowledge (whether medical personnel is present or not).

But, generally speaking I would emphasize the need to first immediately call for qualified medical assistance (mobile ambulance, paramedics, etc.)

- Meanwhile it is important to check for the airways whether they are open or no;

- we need to check for the presence of breathing;

- control for circulation, whether the heart activity is present, by checking the pulse, heart beats auscultation).

If the above parameters are absent it is required immediate CPR maneuvers by applying chest compressions and rescue breaths (30 to 2 ratio in case only one rescuer is present).

In case a shockable rhythm is present, external cardiac defibrillation should be applied to revert the rhythm, otherwise is nonshockable rhythm (like asystole or pulsless heart activity) then inotropes like adrenaline are required. Acid-base, glucose and electrolytes imbalances should be promptly corrected. But, these latter issues are a domain of medical staff.

For laypersons is required only to properly and promptly apply the basic life support steps.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Let me explain as follows:

There are three types of burns:

First-degree burns are considered mild compared to other burns. They result in pain and reddening of the outer layer of the skin.

Second-degree burns (partial thickness burns) affect the lower layer of skin. They cause pain, redness, swelling, and blistering.

Third-degree burns (full-thickness burns) affect deeper tissues. They result in white or blackened, charred skin that may be numb.

Regarding the treatment:

- First degree burns are treated with ointments and painkillers.
-Second-degree burns need more intensive treatment with ointments, antibiotics, painkillers.
- Third-degree burns need in-hospital treatment with IV fluids, antibiotics, ointments, and surgery ( skin grafts or synthetic skin.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Yes, there are specific ointments that you should use.

You can not use ointments containing steroids, alcohol or any food ( like vinegar, sauce, yogurt, tomato, etc.) , because they may worsen the situation.

The skin should be free of clothes in order to avoid sticking and to heel properly.
