Brief Answer:
Red meat and alcohol must be avoided!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this gout. Though allopurinol is very helpful in preventing gout crisis recurrences, it is more effective when used together with dietary and life style modifications. This involves reducing the amount of red meat consumed, increasing fruits, vegetables and water intake and carrying out regular physical activities. Also, alcohol reduces the amount of uric acid excreted through the kidneys and as such responsible for buildup and acute crisis. You must avoid too much red meat and alcohol. If you are on other medications. report them for review as some drugs can also reduce this elimination.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

I have been diagnosed with IgA nephropathy. Does this condition contribute to the amount of uric acid processed by my kidneys?

Brief Answer:
How is your kidney function?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

IgA in itself will not affect this. However, if the kidney function is affected, then this may led to accumulation of uric acid in the body. I will suggest that you report your kidney function parameters to me(BUN and craetinine) for more insights about this.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you!
