Question: I HAD KNEE REPLACEMENT LAST FEBRUARY, 2014. I WAS GIVEN CINDAMYCIN TO TAKE ONE HOUR
BEFORE I SAW A DENTIST. I DID THIS. HOWEVER, THIS WEEK I HAD CATARACT SURGERY AND A
PARTIAL CORNEA TRANSPLANT. I FORGOT TO TAKE THE CINDAMYCIN BEFORE SURGERY.
I WAS TOLD AN INVASIVE PROCEDURE COULD CAUSE INFECTION TO SPREAD TO MY KNEE.
I AM ON EYE DROPS CONSISTING OF PREDNISONE, VIAGAMOX AND NAVESN.

Brief Answer:
Procedure following Knee replacement

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
The benefit of antibiotic prophylaxis as systemic antibiotic administration prior to many bacteremia-inducing procedures is minimal.
Vigamox (moxifloxacin) is an antibiotic.
You can consult your orthopedic surgeon regarding post-procedure prophylaxis.
