What Are The Chances Of Getting Lyme Disease After An Insect Bite?

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Oct 2015
Question: My husband has what we assume is a tuck or chigger bite from about 5 days ago. It has increased to 8 inches in diameter and is turning purple. It is warm to the touch. He has not had aches or joint pain. Should we ask for a Lyme test and antibiotics?

Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Your husband has developed cellulitis around the site of the bite. It is better to take antibiotics. It would also be good to do tests for Lyme disease and other tick borne diseases.
Take care
