Brief Answer:
Please find risk of STD from unprotected sex given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. There is significant risk of STD transmission during unprotected sex with a partner having questionable sexual history. Diseases are more likely if there are rashes, sores or foul discharge. Silent transmission also is there.

2. The infections include those of viral origin like HIV, herpes, genital warts, hepatitis B and bacteria ones like syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, chancroid.

3. The risk of getting the above infections after unprotected sex is the following as found from a reliable source

      MEN      WOMEN
Genital Herpes      30%      30%
Gonorrhea      25%      50%
Chlamydia      20%      40%
Syphilis      20%      30%
Chancroid      15%      30%
Genital Warts      10%      10%
Hepatitis B      5%      10%
HIV      0.9%      1%

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your response. Are the statistics given specific to unprotected oral or general? Would the risk be lower if the unprotected oral sex is not completed? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
It is risk involved after single male and female vaginal intercourse.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. The above statistics is the risk involved after a single act of male and female vaginal intercourse.

2. More the number of incidents and the risk is higher.

3. I am unable to understand what you mean by unprotected oral sex is not completed. Oral sex is either done or not done. There is no incomplete oral sex. In case of oral unprotected sex the statistics is low in all infections.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
