Brief Answer:
Extremely rare possibility, please get tested for confirmation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. There are reports of extremely rare instances where HIV might have been transmitted due to deep kissing probably from a bleeding mouth wound. This sort of transmission is less than 1 in 500000 and not much of it has been documented.

2. Hypothetically such a rare risk exists but practically the reports of transmission by this method is extremely rare.

3. For peace of mind, you might get a fourth generation rapid HIV test done since it is a month following the incident. The rapid fourth generation HIV test detects HIV 1 and 2 antibodies and p24 antigen if present.

I am sure your report will be negative and am asking you to get tested for confirmation and peace of mind.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
You dont require a test after 6 months if this is negative

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. I am sure your test will be negative.

2. Since it is extremely rare and if your result is negative then I dont think that you require another test after 6 months.

3. Getting a test after 6 months will be double confirmation.

Brief Answer:
At one month it is completely accurate for HIV1 infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Good to know your result is negative for HIV.

2. The rapid fourth generation kit test is for three components
(i) Antibody against HIV1 virus
(ii) Antibody against HIV2 virus
(iii) p24 antigen (which is present only in HIV1 virus)

3. At one month, the absence of p24 antigen confirms that you do not have HIV1 infection. However 2 percent of HIV is due to HIV2 infection. There is no test like p24 to test HIV2 infection. Therefore to say that there is no HIV2 infection, doing the test again at 6 months is the best solution to screen for HIV2 antibody.

Since HIV2 is rare that is why people do not give much importance to it.

Hope your query is answered.
