What Are The Chances Of HIV And Other STDs With No Oral And Vaginal Sex?

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Jun 2014
Question: 2 months I went through a scare which I think is a possible exposure to HIV and other STDs. Right after 8 weeks I had mild fever, nothing else just mild fever. When shown to doctor, she asked me to wait for 12 weeks but took WBC count at 8 weeks, the count is 6.0 as compared to 5.2 2 months ago. Does this mean that my white blood cells have started fighting an infection, should I be scared of HIV infection? My lymph node count is also within limits but has fallen from 39 to 37. Please help !

Hello Doctor,

Kindly see the following.

I visited a massage parlour which I went to hesitantly, I know they offer handjobs and may be sex too, after going in there I was scared to have handjob or oral sex or sex ( they do all using condoms ) and I only opted for backrub ( all the time with back up and no frontal display), even though I got rid of my pants and shirt, I retained my underwear ( genitals ) just to be safe, the massage gal did just a backrub on me, by sitting one me ( she was wearing lingerie, not naked ) and now I am scared to hell if I would have contracted herpes from just the back rub, I also have warts on my neck which she touched , I am not sure if warts would transfer any possible infection in to my body. I didnt see any obvious sores on her face or her hands.

The above is the experience I thought was a risk. Even though my doctor here told me that I have no risk of contracting any STDs including HIV, I have been paranoid .
I havent had any symptoms in the last 2 months, Its just I had mild fever (I gotto say that I travelled whole last week and have eaten out since last 3 days and it has gone away completely today. With fever coming after 2 months since "exposure" I was wondering if this is something related to ARS.

I havent had the HIV test yet, my doctor said wait until 3 months. I know that I could have tried in the meanwhile, but my doctor induced some confidence in me that I shouldnt be worried about this and if there is something wrong it would definitely show up.

Shes currently seeing me as a person whos having problems in the mind rather than in the body, hence I couldnt ask her today if I could test at the end of 2 months.
But, the thought of this could have been an ARS symptom is eating me from inside.
Kindly let me know if someone experiences these symptoms at the end of 2 months since possible exposure.
I am also attaching the todays blood report from my visit to the doctor.

Kindly, have a look.

Brief Answer:
No HIV and reports are totally normal

Detailed Answer:
Dear young fellow,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for your swift follow up with additional informations as well as blood reports.

After analyzing the query and your reports with complete diligence let me first and foremost reassure you that you are not suffering form any type of sexually transmitted infection including HIV. Your symptoms are cent percent not related to HIV or acute retroviral syndrome (ARS) or any related thing.

I agree with your treating doctor that it is basically the stress and anxiety of your mind which is causing all the problems.

Let me give the scientific and medical explanations to my words- You might be very well knowing that HIV spreads by blood contact or sexual contact where there is blood to blood contact with HIV infected to HIV noninfected person.

So coming to your kind of exposure- Body massage is NOT AT ALL a mode of HIV infection. It is medically just skin to skin contact. To say it further if skin to skin contact could cause HIV then half of the world would have been infected with HIV.

In my academic as well as clinical carrier of last 15 years I have not seen any case by your kind of exposure. So young man first and foremost you relieve your anxiety related to HIV. There is no testing required for the same. In many cases that are really very anxious we go for RNA PCR for HIV which can be done any time after 14 days of exposure or antibody test at around 6-8 weeks and repeated after 12 weeks.

But all of these tests are not required in you. That is why your doctor is not willing to go for testing. And if at all she wants to go for testing then will go at 12 weeks period. Anyhow let me reassure you fully that all your tests if done will be negative for HIV.

Regarding other of sexually transmitted infections- this is again not a common mode for any other infection and your warts at neck are actually part of skin. Warts at genital region are actually source of exposure and not at neck.

Your blood reports are totally normal and there is no abnormality in the same. SO rest assured for any abnormal process in the reports.

I hope these informations will help you. I will be glad to answer any further of your queries.

Increase in the white blood cell count is normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Young fellow,

You are completely correct in your understanding that increase in white cell is normal finding.

The test result for each and every of your blood indices are very much in normal limit and therefore you should relax completely.

As I said there is no need to go for further testing and even if you go then as per my clinical experience everything will come in normal limit.

So relax and enjoy the day.
