What Are The Chances Of HIV After Unprotected Intercourse?
Question: Hello.
Around 20days ago I had unprotected sex but after 6days having sex I started to feel ill the symptoms was muscle pain in the shoulders,slight fever,soar throat , Soar eyes and a burning feel in the mouth also I'm getting pain in my joints in my fingers .
Should I be worried with regards to HIV.

I am so sorry to hear about this disturbing string of information going through your mind. I would say be worried about HIV, not because these symptoms and timeline is suggestive of HIV but because you had unprotected sex which is a major risk factor for contracting HIV.
These symptoms do not entirely suggest HIV seroconversion. To me, they raise the suspicion of a possible infectious mononucleosis. This is a disease which is transmitted mainly through kissing.
My recommendation is that you get evaluated by your physician and tested for infectious mononucleosis. If the doctor can also order PCR for HIV, then he should do so to get a clear answer and address this worry on your mind as well.
Remember to always and correctly use condoms during sex to prevent HIV and STDs transmission.

How long would these syptoms last,becsuse its already been 17 days..So i should be worried about HIV infection,Do i need to rake any meddication .
