What Are The Chances Of HIV After Protected Intercourse?

default
Posted on Sat, 6 Sep 2014
Question: I had protected intercourse and unprotected oral (received) from a woman two days ago. The condom slipped off a few times but came off as I was taking my penis out. I'm now nervous and scared. I have a sore throat but have been lingering with a cold for about 1 week and a half now and the tip of my penis feels irritated. Is this mind over matter and am stressing myself out? Please help!

Brief Answer:
No need to stress out...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Having a sore throat is indicating for possible common viral infection. I advise to:
- increase fluids intake especially tea, water, etc.
- gargle your throat with water and salt
- take 1 teaspoon of honey and olive oil on daily basis
- use OTC oral antiseptics

If no improvement, should consult with your family doctor or ENT specialist to rule out bacterial infection of throat.

Having the tip of your penis irritated is indicative for:
- dry sex (friction during intercourse)
- genital infection (thrush)
- urinary tract infection, which is common along common cold

I advise to :
- keep a good hygiene of your genitalia
- have always protected sex even if it is oral
- apply clotrimazole cream on the tip of your penis
- get urine analysis to exclude UTI and get it treated properly.

Try to follow the advice given above first. If no improvement, should check with urologist to rule out uro-genital problems.

All the best!
