What Are The Chances Of HIV After Oral Intercourse?
Question: Dear Doctor,
Yesterday, I had a sexual encounter with a new partner whereas she pulled out my penis to give me a handjob and in the mix she spit on my penis twice. I became uncomfortable and had her stop. I did not have any visible scars or cuts on my penis. Furthermore, I did not ejaculate. My concern is that some of her saliva may have seeped into my penis tip (uncircumcised) with the pre-cum. I was unable to see if her saliva had any blood in it given the lighting. When I arrived home a couple of hours later I washed my penis areas thoroughly with soap and water, urinated and ejaculated in hopes of getting out any possible contaminates.
I am concerned as I am usually a very cautious person. I was wondering what are the chances of getting HIV or other STDs from the described situation.

My specific concern is if the saliva potentially contained blood and if it got into my urethra (uncircumcised penis) or if my penis had any small cuts.

The external meatus or opening of urethra is the smallest part of male Urethra. So it prevents any fluids from directly entering inside the Urethra. Also Saliva is not known to transmit HIV( The amount of viral load is too low to transmit it).
PEP is usually more effective if given within 72 hours of exposure. In your case PEP is not recommended.
I do understand difficult situation you are faced with and with all the fear and anxiety. Let me reassure you there is no cause for concern. Use all the requisite precautions next time instead of being worried and stressed.
Put back the episode and move on.
